"Ved, my exams ended today," Sanskriti said soft, her voice full of deep feeling.

"Intermediate is done now.I'll take the morning train tomorrow and will  go home to my parents and won't return."

Tears pricked her eyes as the hard words left her lips. Ved looked shocked, his face falling with real pain.

Ved's face turned pale with shock.His eyes widened in sudden pain that hit him like a heavy stone.His heart twisted sharp inside.A deep ache spread fast as he realized she would vanish from his days forever.He swallowed hard.

His voice stayed calm and steady, hiding the desperate hurt inside."Sanvi...I see.Tomorrow already?Take care on your journey home."

His hands clenched tight at his sides.Longing filled him to hold her close.Regret flooded him for all the unspoken words between them.

Sanskriti's heart sank deep at Ved's calm words, a sharp sting hidden behind his steady voice.She searched his eyes for the pain she felt echoing in her own chest,wishing he would show the storm raging inside like hers.

She stepped closer to him, batting her eyes. "Ved, darling, we're heading back to the hostel now. Why don't you give us a grand farewell party? make it special!" Her teasing tone and light flirt brought a spark to the moment,easing the sadness without heavy words.

At the small roadside restaurant near the college gate, with steaming chai cups and hot fritters on the table, Ved, Mona, and Sanskriti sat close.

They shared laughs in the bittersweet air.Ved spoke first, voice steady."I'll complete my graduation this year, then start working.Hard work ahead."

He grinned playfully at them both."And I'll visit Rajgarh soon so give me your address."

Mona leaned in, excited. "Me?I might join college in Rajgarh too.Plus, help my parents with their textile business, watch me handle it all!"She nudged Sanskriti with a wink.

Sanskriti just nodded quietly,her pale face soft.

When Ved turned to her, asking, "Won't you join a medical college?", she replied, "I will have to ask for Mother's permission first."

Their plans hung light in the night,weaving dreams into goodbye .

After the chai and fritters, Ved stood up with a warm smile.He insisted on dropping the girls back to the hostel himself in his old car,the night breeze cool through the open windows.

Mona slid into the back seat first, pulling Sanskriti beside her.

"Hey , drive safe if something happens to our princess, you're in trouble!"

Mona teased lightly as the engine hummed to life .Sanskriti sat quiet in the front beside Ved, her pale face close to him, heart beating fast with the simple ride.The college lights faded behind, hostel gates nearing too soon in the quiet night.

As the old car slowed to a stop near the hostel gates under the dim streetlamp, the engine's hum faded into the quiet night.

Ved turned off the ignition and looked at them both with a soft smile. "This is it, girls.Take care,and see you soon Rajgarh."

He stepped out first, opening the door for Sanskriti gently.

Mona hopped out with a quick hug for Ved. "Thanks for the ride, hero.Stay in touch!"

Sanskriti nodded shyly, murmuring "Goodbye,"her pale face lit faint by the lamp.

They waved as he drove off slow,the goodbye lingering light in the air.

The next morning came early and cool.The sun rose over the hills.Sanskriti and Mona hurried to the small train station with light bags.

The 8 AM train waited on the track,steam rising slow.Ved came as a surprise.

He waved from far with wildflowers in hand."I made it.Safe trip home," he said. He gave the flowers to Sanskriti with a big smile.His eyes stayed on her.

Mona shook hands with Ved firmly, "Thanks for coming, Ved.Visit Rajgarh soon."

Sanskriti held the flowers tight. "Thank you," she said soft.The train whistle blew loud.They waved as they got on board.
